Week 1-Part 2

We have visited a number of beaches this week and many people have asked us where they are!  Most are on the map below and are within approximately 15 minutes of our house (which is in Huacas).  They are Playa Brasilito, Playa Conchal, Playa Flamingo, Playa Grande, Tamarindo, and Playa Potrero.  Although these beaches are within about 30 minutes of each other, they are VASTLY different.  Some have great surfing (Grande and Tamarindo), one is made up of all shells and is great for snorkling (Conchal), and others have dark grey sand and better fishing (Brasilito and Potrero).  It is truly unbelievable (and the pictures don’t do the beaches justice)!

There is no doubt that John will be the surfer!  He is well on his way practicing with his little “boogie board” and will be taking proper surfing lessons soon.

The boys have also found new animals to call their own.  We have neighbors that have two dogs the boys like watching out for (while the owners are working at their local juice bar) and Ray has a “pet” iguana he fondly calls “Big Papi”.  He actually feeds him fruit and he eats it! He lives in a pipe like tube beneath the balcony. We also have a large monkey family (howler monkeys) living nearby that visited us the other morning-they are very loud.

The things that I like about our trip a lot is going to all the beaches and having next door neighbors with really cool dogs named Ollie and Honey.   Our school is very nice.  It’s an International School so there’s a lot of kids from other countries-like about 22 countries.  We start school on Monday and I get to meet my teacher this Friday.  There is going to be a pool  party on Friday too. I am trying to learn Spanish.  -John

  1. We got the blog. Not exactly sure how, but I did it. So nice to see the boys enjoying themselves & their many pets. Any mention of Sousa? So many beaches. Pick one for an Airbnb for us. Close by to you of course. I got your text via WhatsApp, but now it seems to be gone. If Julie can’t help me tomorrow I might just stop at ATT. Went to Barb’s for a gourmet dinner last night. Showed her the blog. She was very impressed with how much you have already done. Does it kind of feel like home yet? Sorta? Busy next few days. Dinner with Alan, funeral for one of my high school friend’s husband that died suddenly & one of my yoga friends & her husband are visiting for a couple days. Has been beautiful here. Love you guys. Dad too! 💋
